Modern Times

In modern times people marry outside their family's and culture. Since we do not have any ali'i class or ali'is people it caused because people do not care if they marry outside their family or culture. Some people did not know about traditional rules of marriage in Hawaii. I think others knew about but the tradition but since the rules changed they do not care.

Anicent Hawaii

In Ancient Hawaii the wanted to keep the unblemished genealogy. Which means That the ali'is wanted to keep the family together. They wanted to keep the royal blood for the ali'is child. So they married each other.

Naming the baby

Iona Kapuna: Names after an ancestor. They would have this type of name to pay respect or in hope to be similar to their deceased Ancestor.

Iona Po: Night name the name is given by the gods and/or in dreams from a family member. It is believed if the child is not named what the gods have chosen, the baby will become ill and possibly die.

Natural birth information

Natural birth is when the child is delivered through the canal. If you want to remain in control of your body as much as possible, be an active participant throughout labor, and have minimal routine interventions such as the birth process, then a natural, unmedicated approach to controlling labor pain will suit you best.
Natural birth is the best birth for you and for your baby. Despite what you might be told
all medication (including the epidural) has an affect on your baby. The medications used during birth cross to your baby and change the way your body responds to labor. It also has an affect if you move and they inject you in the wrong way, you could get paralyzed.
Medical intervention and surgical birth - either by cesarean section or by "assisted delivery"interferes with natural birth. Intervention will have effects on your earliest moments with your child.
